The document was signed by the Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, Orlando Requeijo Gual, and the acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Jane Aarland-Nanhu.
Minister Requeijo Gual said Cuba and Surinam will continue following the same collaboration strategies as agricultural experts and more medical doctors will arrive from Cuba to support Suriname.
As part of the agreement, Surinam will participate in trade fairs in Cuba, including ExpoCaribe on next June in Santiago de Cuba.
Among the most important cooperation programs between Cuba and Surinam is the Operation Milagro through which almost 5, 000 patients have received eye treatment.
Another well known project is the Energy Saving Light Bulbs project that has resulted in a drop in energy consumption.
The fourth joint Commission of cooperation between the two countries will take place in Havana in the year 2009.
