Opens on Valentine's Day the 17th Cuban Book Fair.
During nearly a month, the book feast will extend to 42 cities throughout the country.

Due to forecasts for rain Wednesday afternoon the fairs organizing committee decided to change todays official inauguration to Thursday at 9:00 a.m. with the doors being opened to the public at 1:00 p.m.

Presentations of books dealing with Cubas National Hero Jose Marti, including new volumes of his complete works, and the legacy of Ernesto Che Guevara, are some of the activities scheduled for the opening day.

Meanwhile, the participation of the Autonomous Community of Galicia, Spain, in the fair began to be felt Tuesday with the inauguration of an exposition titled Otra Geografia, Arte desde Galicia (Another geography, art from Galicia) at the Hispanoamericano Cultural Center.

During the opening ceremony, Manuel Olvieira, director of the Center of Contemporary Galician Art explained that the show is comprised by the work of 50 artists, and is a look at the last 40 years in contemporary Galician art.

Attending the presentation were Anxela Bugallo, culture and sports attaché of the Galicia government; Rafael Bernal, Cuban vice-minister of Culture; Iroel Sanchez, president of the Cuban Book Institute; and Ruben del Valle Lantaron, from the National Visual Arts Council.
