New Cuban Filmmakers Festival to take place from February whith a Documentary on Silvio Rodriguez.
Young filmmakers Alejandro Ramirez Anderson and Ernesto Perez Zambrano got their inspiration from the trip Silvio took from September 1969 to January 1970 along with the crew of the Playa Giron fishing boat, reads the article published by Granma daily.

The documentary uses film images and lets Playa Giron crew members tell of their experiences lived during the months at sea, the friendships established, as well as the now immortalized songs that Silvio composed on board including Playa Giron.

"We chose this passage in Silvio's life because it was very important to him both personally and artistically," said Ramirez-Anderson during a premiere screening of the film at Havana's Museum of Fine Arts.

"The idea came one Sunday sitting at a caffee, between beers, as a dream among friends. We contacted Silvio through the Pablo de la Torrente Brau Cultural Center. By the time we spoke with him we had already located the seamen, we knew the subject, the anecdotes and we tried to tell how a creator is motivated by life experiences," said Perez Zambrano.

Present at the premiere were Culture Minister Abel Prieto, Silvio Rodriguez and Victor Casaus, director of the Pablo Center who called the documentary eulogy to authenticity, to friendship and to the talent of Silvio.
