Russian Critics Praise Cuban Dancer, Carlos Acosta
Russian music critics highlighted the performance of Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta in the role of Spartacus, performed as special guest of the Bolshoi ballet company for the legendary group's shows in Paris.

A true success has marked the beginning of the famous company tour at the Parisian Grand Opera, said the Voice of Russia radio station on Tuesday, referring to the program, which finished with the "Aram Jachaturiam" ballet, danced by Acosta.

Together with Acosta, Alexandr Volchakov and Nina Koptsova shape a luxury trio in the dance, which closed a program begun with "The Corsair," written by Marius Petipa, an original version of the show again in Paris, after 50 years of absence.

Before the performance by the Cuban dance virtuoso, the Bolshoi presented the ballet "The Lady in Pique," created by French choreographer Roland Petit, who was inspired by Alexander Pushkin's work.

Acosta has the energy that a revolutionary needs to achieve such a difficult image, besides the heroic male principle. There are not many dancers with such a spectrum of qualities, Bolshoi's artistic director Alexei Ratmanski told the Voice of Russia.
