The singer Silvio Rodríguez and Humanist Expedition in Cuba
The singer Silvio Rodríguez assured that the artistic tour Expedición (Expedition) he is making through penitentiary centres of the Cuban centre and east reflects the human sense of the Revolution and shows how much can the culture do for the spiritual well being of the people.

"Expedición is not only the name of a song and a record I conceived when the Cuban people was fighting for the return of Elián González to Cuba, it is also a symbol of respect I feel for all the citizens of my country", explained the singer, who received the Key to the Hero City (Santiago de Cuba city) for his contribution to the Cuban music.

Silvio and the painter Ernesto Rancaño saw a exhibition of craft pieces made by inmates there. During the concert Vicente Feliú sang anthological themes of the Cuban music, while Silvio delighted the present public with Unicornio, Playa Girón and other songs of his wide repertoire. At the same time Amaury Pérez, Alexis Díaz Pimienta and the quartet Sexto Sentido delivered beautiful displays of their art. The National Literature Award winner, Reynaldo González, gave the institution a collection of books and said that it was a treasure of knowledge, an act of thinking and a confirmation of the happiness for life the Cuban people has and the will of improve themselves.

The tour will end the 28th of January at the penitentiary of Villa Clara and will, in this first stage, also reach prisons in Granma, Holguín, Las Tunas, Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila.
