The 2007 National Award of Social Sciences was given to the historian Rolando Rodríguez García for his substantial contributions to the interpretation of the national history evolution and for the systematic work of his life in the formation, spreading and promotion of social sciences.
The jury, chaired by Fernando Martínez Heredia, 2006 National Social Sciences Award winner and made by Isabel Monal Rodríguez, Lidia Turner Martí, Oscar Loyola Vega and Osvaldo Martínez Martínez worked at the Dulce María Loynaz Cultural Centre with the presence of Juan Luis Martin, a representative of the Higher Council of Social Sciences and Edel Morales, representing the Cuban Book Institute, reached the verdict unanimously.
