Just before ending the 2007, the Nicolás Guillén Foundation and the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists) (UNEAC, after its initials in Spanish) remembered the 40th anniversary of the publication of the poem book El gran Zoo (The great Zoo), written by the National Poet.

Only three months before the celebration in this capital city of the VI Colloquium and Music and Poetry International Festival that carries the name of the author of Motivos de son, the President of the stated Foundation said to AIN that it was beautiful to recall that text since it is very peculiar in his work.

Nicolás Hernández Guillén, indicated that at the exchanges about El gran Zoo it was also remembered that it was also the 40th anniversary of the publication of another indispensable poem book El libro de las maravillas de Boloña (The book of the wonders of Bologna), written by Eliseo Diego and Juan Rulfo award winner.

The executive explained that it was a 1967 book that caused great sensation, especially among the young writers who saw with surprise and warm a young book. Specialists and critic qualify this book as one of the more modern ones. Other specialist thought it was a diversion from his beginnings; the book was also criticized for its ironic tone, but at the end it is notable for its fresh and humorous poet of Guillen.

The colloquium will have a great number of analysis about that work that was his literary legacy from the exile.
