Humberto Arenal National Prize for Literature 2007
The Cuban writer, playwright, and journalist Humberto Arenal (Havana, 1926), legendary founder of the news agency Prensa Latina and the weekly publication Lunes de Revolucion (Monday of Revolution) was chosen national Prize for Literature 2007.

Arenal, member of the literary generation of 1950s, he was chosen unanimously by a jury for "the wealth and diversity of his work and the importance it carries for the Cuban national literature."

The jury was presided over by Leonardo Acosta, National Prize for Literature 2006, and integrated by Maria Flat Elena, Julio Travieso, Guillermo Rodriguez Rivera, Alex Pausides, Roberto Mendez, and Alberto Guerra who issued its decision yesterday at the Cultural Center Dulce Maria Loynaz.

The National Prize for Literature 2007 will be officially granted to Humberto Arenal on February 14, 2008, in the 17th International
