The first National Literature Contests award "Luis Suardíaz Rivero", summoned by the department of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Camagüey, was granted to the essay "Acercamiento cultural del tratamiento de la arquitectura en cuatro crónicas carpentarianas" presented by the graduate Cristina Peña Pérez, professor in Oral and Written Communication at the university.

From the jurys point of view, The essay which has an excellent structure, approach the literary course of Alejo Carpentier, and it introduces a merely studied topic which social and cultural perspectives will contribute with further studies upon this writer work.

The jury also recognized the poetry work "Espacio abierto - El Límite", by José Fernando Orpi Gali, Santiago de Cuba, who has developed a relevant literary career inside and outside the country. This time the author gave us throughout his poetry, some of his personal experiences.

More than 20 works from seven different provinces competed at the contest, according to the opinion of the jury all the works emphasize on poetry and essays, and all show an excellent social dimension and a national contemporary culture expression.

The first period of this Award Ceremony, will take place on December 12th at the Revolution Square "Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz".
