"José Antonio Fernández de Castro" Cultural Journalism Award.

The "José Antonio Fernández de Castro" Cultural Journalism Award was created by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cuba in 1999.
It is aimed to acknowledge the journalistic labour on cultural promotion and on defense of the national culture through a coherent promotional policy which develops ideas, initiatives and critical valuations in full accordance with the demands of the most outstanding Cuban ariters and artists.
The "José Antonio Fernández de Castro". Cultural Journalism Award will be conferred to Cuban journalists acknowledging his full work, for his relevant work se on promoting the Cuban culture through the media.
Proposals will be received from Cuban cultural institutions, the Provincial Directions of Culture the Cuban Broadcasting Institute (ICR-T), the Association of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), the Association of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the Saíz Brothers Association (AHS).
Only one journalist must be nominated by each institution and produce the written acknowledgemnt of its proposal. The nominees will be living persons and residing in Cuba with undisputed professional, cultural and other values.
This award will be conferred by a Jury integrated from five to nine members, appointed by and Organizing Commission. The Jury is not authorized to nominate anyone and its majority decisión will be simple and inapelable.
The Organizing Commission and the Jury will be the only authorized to interpret the rules or to decide aspects out of it.
Propòsals will be sent from December 1st to 31st, 2007, to the Centro de Desarrollo y Comunicación Cultural (Centre of Cultural Development and Communication), located in: Calle 4 No. 205 entre Línea y 11, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Ciudad de La Habana.
The "José Antonio Fernández de Castro". Cultural Journalism Award will be yearly conferred and will consisto n a diploma, 1000 pesos (National Currency) and an art work.
The Centro de Desarrollo y Comunicación Cultural will arrange the public act where the "José Antonio Fernández de Castro". Cultural Journalism Award will be conferred in the "Day of the Cuban Press".
