The writer Roberto Estrada Baurgeois, from the capital of Cuba, became winner of the third national competition in narrative Guillermo Vidal, with his novel Condesa.

According to the Cuban News Agency, this adventure novel, that approaches the 18th century in Havana, was characterized by the elegance and fluency among more than twenty works in competition.

Róger Avila, national assistant of the Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) stated that in this occasion the contest, that is alternated in each edition with the category short story, had a wide participation of contestants and the quality of the works was quite well.

The literary event that grants 10, 000 Cuban pesos, renders homage to the local writer Guillermo Vidal, who disappeared physically in 2004, at the age of 52 years.

Some of the most famous books of this author are La saga del perseguido (Alejo Carpentier Prize), Las manzanas del paraíso (Prize Casa de Teatro, in Dominican Republic), Los Cuervos (Dulce María Loynaz Prize), Matarile, and Confabulación de la araña.
