The Second Galician Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba created a committee for the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States and denounced the increasing attacks from that northern country against the island.

The gathering was held in Santiago de Compostela Saturday among representatives from different political, social and friendship organizations with Cuba, convened by the "Francisco Villamil" Galician-Cuban Friendship Association.

Participants in the event called to foster public opinion as for the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Ramon Labanino, unjustly imprisoned nine years ago.

In front of the conspiratorial silence by media, we have to act through the creation of a Galician Committee for the freedom of the Five, states a resolution approved in the encounter.

The text also denounces the US aggressiveness against Cuba to undermine the Revolution and the right to self-determination, and highlights the reiterated resolutions by the UN General Assembly, which by an overwhelming majority have demanded the end of the blockade imposed against the island for over 47 years.

The document stresses the need to fight the information blockade, manipulation of consciences, and defamation on Cuba's reality by capitalist media.
