Experts from several companies are testing the pumping system of the Cacoyugüín dam in the eastern Cuban province of Holguín.
The tests are being carried out after 300 meters of high-density polyethylene pipes were laid.
In less than a month, workers installed and welded all 28 pipes and connected their ends to other pipes to replace the segment that was damaged.
The Cacoyugüín dam is the oldest in the province. It was built more than 50 years ago and has a storage capacity of nearly five million cubic meters. It supplies water to 200,000 consumers.
The works will reestablish water supply to the city, which was interrupted due to the system failure.
