Old Havana, which was declared Humankind's Heritage by UNESCO, offers dozens of buildings that have become excellent attractions for foreign tourists.
One of them is the Lonja del Comercio (Trade Market), located on the Saint Francis of Assisi Square and equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
According to experts, the building was closely linked to the development of trade in the late 19th century.
The Lonja del Comercio was housed in several buildings, until the construction of the current edifice was put out to a tender, and the winner was sculptor Tomás Mur, from Valencia, Spain.
The six-story building has a portal with arches and a dome topped by a bronze sculpture of God Mercury, who is the symbol of trade.
