Higher education in the Cuban province of Camaguey began in the revolutionary stage and its 40th anniversary will be commemorated with 260 times more students than when it was created.

Opened on November, 1967 with 200 students, higher education in Camaguey has now more than 52,000 students in the six faculties operating there.

The central celebration will be held on November 5 and 6 with activities to award honorific titles and the meeting of a special group of teachers.

Delegations from Angola, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, France and Spain confirmed their attendance to the event, and there will be foreign students from more than 60 nationalities based in Camaguey.

Among other scientific events, there will be the National Meeting for Economic Thought, the 9th International Conference for Educational Sciences.

University teaching in the territory has graduated more than 50,000 professionals, with 52 careers and the graduate degree preparation covers the doctorate in sciences.
