According to one of the coordinators of the special teaching program, Fredesvinda Lindice, there are some 20 schools for special education in the 8 municipalities of Las Tunas, and one computer for each 22 students, an unprecedented proportion.
Lindice explained that the comprehensive educational programs go from elementary school to post-graduate courses.
She also referred to a team of travelling teachers who are in charge of teaching 110 students with physical impairments and who will also be fully incorporated into society thanks to this initiative.
Nearly 60% of the 800 teachers devoted to Special Education in Las Tunas are university graduates from that specialty, and 350 of them are currently taking a master's degree course in Education Sciences.
