Popular Puerto Rican Salsa Singer to attend Festival in Cuba

Montañez, 65, will participate for the first time this year in the Festival organized by the Ibero American Centre based in Holguin, 740 kilometers from the Cuban capital.

"For a more integrated and humanistic Ibero America" will be the slogan of the Festival which will be attended by a large number of writers, artists and scholars from Latin America and Europe.

According to public relations specialist Alanis Toranzo, over one hundred delegates from Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Spain, Argentina and Brazil have already confirmed their participation in the event.

The Festival, which this year will be dedicated to Cuban pedagogue and musician Francisco Sanchez (Lele), covers a wide program of activities including concerts and an interactive forum in favor of solidarity and global peace.

The Ibero American Culture Festival is held annually in Cuba to commemorate the clash of European and American cultures after Christopher Colombus' landing in Bariay, Holguin, on October 27, 1492.
