Cuban Social Workers improve life
A total of 43,000 Cuban youth are incorporated into a nationwide community social work program first fostered by Cuban President Fidel Castro seven years ago.

Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde dedicated its cover to this event, a result of current transformations in Cuba to improve quality of life for the population.

At this moment Cuban social workers are investigating the care of older people, which now reach 1.8 million.

Enrique Gomez Cabezas is at the head of the national project and he told Juventud Rebelde the 7th anniversary of this initiative will be commemorated with a meeting on the impact of the different missions in Cuban society.

Delegates will also discuss attention to children and the disabled, employment, crime and social reinsertion, and the tasks of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).

Among the successes, Cabezas mentioned the studies they did that have resulted in determining child nutrition needs, and structuring care in that area.
