Cuba's Yargelis Savigne jumped 15.28 meters (50 feet, 1 3/4 inches) to edge two-time champion Tatyana Lebedeva for the triple jump title Friday at the track and field world championships.
The 22-year-old produced the best leap of the year of 15.28 metres on her first attempt at the Nagai Stadium and it proved good enough to take the title.
Russia's Lebedeva, who won the long jump on Tuesday and was looking for a golden double at Osaka, took silver at 49-5 1/2.
She won the triple jump at the 2001 and '03 world championships but was injured in '05.
Hrysopiyi Devetzi of Greece won bronze with a 49-4.
Defending champion Trecia Smith of Jamaica was injured this season.
