Cuban Yipsi Moreno was runner-up Thursday in women's hammer throwing at the World Athletics Championship in Osaka, Japan, with a toss of 74.74 meters.

Moreno was third until the last round when she managed to beat the Chinese Zhang Wenxiu and was only two centimetres from the German champion Betty Heidler (74.76).

This is the fourth medal the Cuban player achieved in world championships after obtaining the gold in Edmonton 2001 and Paris 2003.

Silver: Yipsi Moreno (Cuba) 74.74
