Chaired by vice president Carlos Lage, the conference aims to update the 640 participants on the key aspects of changes to the systems currently in place, specifically laws governing business management.
These include decree 262, on the strengthening of Cuban business management and decree 281 which regulates its implementation.
During the opening of the seminar on Tuesday night, the secretary of Cuba's Business Imrpovement Executive Group Armando Perez spoke about the research and analysis that went into the development of both directives.
The study made use of the experiences and opinions of companies that have put the enterprise optimization strategy into practice since 1998.
He said the new norms are in line with the key transformations undergone by the national economy, and introduce four new management systems, in the key areas of human resources, environment, innovation and business communications.
They complement the 14 existing norms, as well as making clear the main questions companies need to address to fullfill their primary objective of increasing their output and thereby their contribution to society.
