Over 700 thousand university students in 2007-2008

All material and logistic resources have been guaranteed for this school year, said Vela during a meeting with the board of directors of the Marta Abreu Universidad Central de Las Villas.

Participants at the meeting assessed the results of the previous school year and preparations for the upcoming one, in which students will count on many resources including 2,800 personal computers for their daily academic activities.

The University in the central province of Villa Clara has an estimated enrolment of 21,700 students, more than 12,000 of which will take courses at municipal university branches and some 5,200 will be enrolled in regular courses as external and boarding students.

The higher education center is one of the countrys three oldest universities and it offers 31 specialties, including Scientific Information and Library, Biology, Social Communication, Tourism and Industrial Engineering.
