The island's delegation to the event was comprised of 51 athletes who competed in only five of the ten sports disciplines included in the program: athletics, swimming, judo, weightlifting and table tennis.
In the last day of competitions, Lazaro Raschid (men's 800 meters) and Julio Rosabal (men's 100 meters) gave Cuba two more crowns.
In all, the Cuban delegation finished with 28 titles, 21 silver and 11 bronze medals.
Brazil dominated the event with 83 crowns, 68 silver and 77 bronze medals. Canada (49-37-26) and the United States (37-44-36) placed second and third, respectively.
This was the best performance of Cuba in Para-Pan American events. Four years ago, in Mar del Plata, Argentina, the island's athletes accumulated only 10 titles and three silver medals.
The next edition of the Para-Pan American Games will take place in 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico, also venue of the 16th Pan American Games
