Childrens carnival director Omar Piedra told ACN news that choreographers and designers have put together a varied parade with a large representation of traditional carnival musician and dance ensembles and a constant movement from beginning to end.
Each of the many floats will represent a personality of Cuban culture and be accompanied by dancers. Several figures revered by Cuban children will be honored on Friday including Indio Nabori, Dora Alonso and the late actor Edwin Fernandez, known as the clown Trompoloco.
The nine-day carnival officially opens Saturday evening with the 9:00 p.m. cannon fire from the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress overlooking Havana Bay.
