US President George Bush tried to take advantage of Fidel Castros health condition to topple the Cuban Revolution, but what we see is that Cuba is much stronger now, said Reverend Lucius Walker, founder of the US Pastors for Peace religious organization in statements to reporters in eastern Camaguey province.
Walker attended the national ceremony held in the eastern Cuban territory to mark National Rebelliousness Day on the island. He said that since Fidel became sick a year ago, the US administration increased its wishes and actions to destroy the Cuban Revolution.
Members of the Miami-based ultra-right circles were dancing in the streets as they wait for the Revolution to fall, something really horrible to see, Walker pointed out. "However, today we have witnessed the Cuban peoples determination to even strengthen unity and the countrys revolutionary leadership," said the US reverend.
Raul Castro has assessed the countrys current reality with the same clarity that Fidel has evaluated just anything concerning Cuba, observed Walker and noted that there is "no evidence at all about a possible fall of the Cuban Revolution, but of victory and the beauty of the spirit of the Cuban people, while it is a very special honor for us [Pastors for Peace members] to have attended the national ceremony."
"What we have been able to feel and observe can never be witnessed if you are not right here, among the people; this is a gift, a huge gift that provides us with great hope for the future," pointed out Lucius Walker.
Reverend Walker and Pastors for Peace members brought the 18th US-Cuba Friendshipment caravan to the island last week. Caravan members toured 127 US and Canadian cities to collect 90 tons of humanitarian aid for Cuban people, particularly for the elderly and the physically impaired.
