Cuban Baseball team classified for semifinals in Pan Am Games

Rio de Janeiro, Jul 16 The Cuban baseball team defeated Venezuela four to three and classified for semi-finals of the 15th Pan American Games.
In spite of a poor offensive performance of six hits, the island nine jelled its few scoring opportunities, helped also by the slip-ups of its rivals.
The match was decided in the seventh inning, when left-fielder Frederich Cepeda drove in the fourth run with a rolling in direction to second base with bases loaded and one out.
The veteran pitcher Pedro Luis Lazo made a brilliant relay from the seventh inning, giving his team its second win of the competition.
The Caribbean team passed on to semifinals with a balance of two wins and one lost, keeping alive the aspiration of conquering its tenth consecutive title in continental games.
