Cubas Sancti Spiritus granted recognition for the 26th of July
"The recognition received from the top leadership of the Revolution is, first of all, a commitment to continue, and to improve our work in every sphere", said Miguel Acebo Cortiñas, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of Cuban Communist Party in the province of Sancti Spiritus when referring to the celebrations for the 54 anniversary of the Moncada garrison attack.

Acebo addressed hundreds of local residents gathered Thursday morning in the Major General Serafin Sanchez Valdivia revolution square and highlighted the significance of the acknowledgement for this territory, only chosen as venue for the main celebration of the 26th of July in 1986 and which hadnt received any recognition for ten years.

The party leader explained that the decision to distinguish this province was based on the results achieved in important sectors of the economy such as fishing, water resources and housing as well as in fields like health, agriculture, transport, banks and food industry.

The provinces of Camaguey, Ciudad de la Habana, Granma and Villa Clara were specially awarded while Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus were granted recognitions.
