Faith, justice, needs at Cuba Event
The Fifth International Meeting of Socio-Religious Studies starts in this capital Tuesday, with over 200 researchers, religious leaders and students of several beliefs from America, Europe and Asia.

According to Ramon Torreira, from the Center for Psychological and Sociological Research (CIPS) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment of Cuba, the main issue of the event is "Religious movements faced with conflicts and challenges of a world in crisis."

Today's agenda includes a workshop on religion, poverty and social justice in the current Latin American and Caribbean reality and a panel entitled "A Look at History in the Study of Religion."

Also on the list are impressions on religion, subjectivity and history of Protestantism in Cuba.

The meeting, to be run until Thursday, is expected pay tribute today to Doctor Jorge Ramirez Calzadilla, founder of the CIPS, on occasion of the 25th anniversary of that department.
