The 9th Cuba-Mexico Inter Parliamentary Conference opens in this capital on Thursday to review bilateral cooperation.

The meeting will be opened by the president of the People's Power National Assembly, Ricardo Alarcon, and the president of the Mexican Senate, Manlio Fabio Beltrones, will make a speech at the opening ceremony.

The agenda includes reports by deputies of the situation between the two countries in sectors such as education, culture, health, among others.

They will also discuss important topics in international parliamentary institutions, such as the Inter Parliamentary Union, the Latin American Parliament, the Central American Parliament, among other forums.

The strengthening of the labour of Parliamentary Groups of Friendship, cooperation with natural disasters, protection of the environment and the work of the civil defense are included among topics at the event.

The meeting will conclude on Saturday with the approval of a final declaration and a press conference.
