More than 40 firms and ten agriculture-producing countries confirmed their attendance at the "FIAGROP 2007" International Agricultural Fair to be held in Havana from March 24 to April 1.

Adolfo Aroche, from the Cuban Agriculture Ministry and the fairs director, said Germany, Canada and the United States are among the most important firms and the most frequent visitors to these events.

The director said that activities will start on Saturday with a national rodeo and calf-throwing championship at the capitals exhibition site in Rancho Boyeros.

Aroche said that this twelfth fair will feature the Cuban agricultural progress, as well as promote exchanges of experiences.

The exhibition area became a "socialist heritage site" in 1960, the same year where at that location President Fidel Castro announced the formation of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) - an organization of Cuban farmers. Agricultural progress in the country has been spotlighted at this venue since that time.
