Increases Production Capacity Cuban Eastern Distillery
After a 23-year period of no renovations, repair works began in the second semester of 2007. These are scheduled to be completed soon, thus production should increase from 850 to 1,000 hectolitres of alcohol every day.

Young Cuban cyclist Lisandra Guerra won the gold medal in Los Angeles, United States.
Guerra clocked 33.955 seconds to relegate Duth Willy Kanis (34.486) and Lithuanian Simona Krupeckaite (34.764) to the second and third spots, respectively.

In the second stage of general elections 95 percent of Cubans had voted.
Cubans are wating Monday for the results of voting to approve 614 deputies for the Parliament and 1,201 delegates for the provincial assemblies of the People"s Power, after massive attendance at polls.
