Third Festival of Havana's traditions at the House of Africa

The 3rd Festival of Havana's Traditions and Customs, sponsored by the House of Africa and the Cultural Project Jose Luciano Franco held from November 15th to December 13th in our capital. This Festival has the purpose of strengthening our identity and paying tribute to José Luciano Franco, an outstanding personality of our culture. The inauguration took place at the House of Africa, last November 15th, at ten in the morning.

Cuba, Miracle Operation for a million patients

A total of 485,476 people from 28 countries have been benefited by the Miracle Operation, preserving or reestablishing sight to patients of low economic resources through the free surgeries. A report of the Health Ministry to the recently-held Parliamentary Hearing analyzing the course of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, allowed knowing that 290,934 of them are Venezuelans.

Cuban, Venezuelan writers to meet

Venezuelan and Cuban academics are expected to attend the 2nd Cuba-Venezuela Writers Meeting to be held in Caracas in March 2007, this country's Culture Minister Farruco Sesto stated Monday. Sesto told Prensa Latina that the decision was taken as a result of the excellent experience of the January 2004 meeting, with the participation of 50 academics from the two nations.

They are at the first three places in the temporary standings in the group "B". According to the rules the first 4 teams form the total of 6 will be ranked in the four preliminary groups "А", "В", "С" and "D".

Cuba demolishes Australia 3-0 in men's volleyball world championship

Cuba rocked Australia in three straight sets here on Sunday to gain their first victory at the 2006 men's volleyball World Championship. It took Cuba only 75 minutes to take the win in the tournament with 25-15, 25-19, 25-20.

Cuba defends Intercontinental Cup

Champion Cuba defended its Intercontinental Cup baseball title Sunday, beating the Netherlands 6-3 in the final in Taiwan. This marks Cuba's 10th win out of the 16 Intercontinental Cup tournaments since the tournament was launched in 1973.
