The Cuban child theater company "La Colmenita" ended its tour of Turkey with sound success among the public.

The theater company La Colmenita finished their participation on the fourth edition of the International Festival of Children’s Theater in this capital city, even though their tour around the country lasted until May 4.

Theatre companies and artists from six countries, among them the prestigious company La Candelaria, from Colombia, and Malayerba, from Ecuador, will participate in the ‘Mayo Teatral’ event, organized by the Havana-based Casa de las Américas cultural institution.

The Cuban theatre company “La Colmenita” concluded its participation at the fourth International Festival of Children’s Theatre in Ankara yesterday, although its tour of Turkey will continue until May 4.

The Tomás Terry theatre in central Cienfuegos city, together with the Sauto in Matanzas province and the La Caridad in Santa Clara make up the trilogy of the most important Cuban theatres of the 19th century.

The Cuban group La Colmenita arrived to this capital where they will participate in the fourth edition of the International Festival of Children’s Theater and afterwards they will hold two performances in Istambul.

Once again the Casa de las Américas opens its doors to the Temporada de Teatro Latinoamericano y Caribeño Mayo Teatral (Theater May Latin American and Caribbean Theater Season), which will have its seventh edition from 9-18 from that month.

The audience and artists participating in the eighth International Puppets Workshop underway in Matanzas city, some 98 kilometers east of Havana, have enjoyed a number of previously unpublished scripts from Japan and Europe.

The popular "Mamulengo", a Brazilian puppet show, is in Cuba with University of Brasilia Scenic Arts Professor Izabela Costa for the eighth International Puppets Workshop being held here, with artists from 10 countries.

The VIII International Puppets Workshop will join together artists from Europe, Latin America and Asia in the eastern province of Matanzas, from the 19 up to the 27 of April.

José Jacinto Milanés theater, a symbolic cultural institution of Pinar del Río is among the 12 nominees to the National Restoration Award granted by the National Union of Architects and Engineers of Cuba (UNAIC).

Actors and dramatists from Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Cuba will participate at the Latin American and Caribbean Theater Season Mayo Teatral, on May 5-25.

The Cuban theater company Teatro de la Luna made its successful debut at the 3rd International Stage Arts Festival of Panama, with a performance that had a long ovation by the audience.

La Colmenita to Participate in World Festival of Children s Theatre The Tenth World Festival of Children’s Theatre will be held in Moscow from July 17 to 25 under the motto «Children Performing for Children.»

Artists from 10 countries are expected to gather in Cuba on April 19-27 for the International Puppet Workshop 2008, president of the organizing committee René Fernández announced.
