The musical legacy of El Taiger continues to make waves in Cuba's urban scene. On October 10th, marking the first anniversary of his passing, the unreleased track "Tita" was launched, a song the artist had recorded prior to his death.
This new release features a collaboration with young singer El Dray and was produced by DJ Unic and DJ Conds, two of the most prominent names in Cuba's urban genre. El Dray's involvement showcases José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar—El Taiger's real name—his dedication to promoting emerging voices within the island's urban music movement.
"This was our last song, my brother. We're all going to listen to Tita; that was José's wish," commented DJ Unic on the YouTube video of the track.
El Dray described the release as a well-kept surprise for over a year, calling it "a tribute to one of the greatest artists Cuba has ever produced."
"Tita" joins "Chaito Good bye" as part of El Taiger's posthumous repertoire, underscoring his lasting impact on the new generations within Cuba's urban music scene. On October 10th, numerous Cubans gathered at the chapel in the Colón Cemetery in Havana, where his ashes are interred, to remember the reggaeton star.
Social media was flooded with heartfelt tributes from friends and colleagues, filled with nostalgia in memory of El Taiger.
