On September 6th, Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, known as El Taiger to his fans, would have turned 38. Admirers, fellow musicians, friends, family, and loved ones chose to honor his memory in a way he would have appreciated: by celebrating with his music.
Teresa Padrón, his former manager, traveled to Havana to commemorate his birthday at the chapel in the Colon Cemetery, where his ashes rest. The chapel was decorated with purple, silver, and white balloons, floral arrangements, and resonated with El Taiger’s music, inviting all who wished to pay their respects to the late reggaeton star.
“Today, September 6th, we celebrate your life, José, on the day God chose to bring you into the world. Though you are not physically here, your presence is felt in every memory, every song, every heart touched by your music, your sayings, your craziness, and your unique way of being. Your legacy isn't measured in fame or numbers but in the impact you left on those who loved you and continue to honor you. Even though your absence hurts, we are comforted knowing you live on eternally in the music that still plays, in the memories we cherish, and in the love you sowed. HAPPY BIRTHDAY in heaven, my brother. May your light never cease to shine, for we continue to remember you with respect, pride, and infinite affection. ALWAYS JOSÉ. JUSTICE FOR YOU,” Teresa shared on Instagram.
In Miami, several artists and colleagues of El Taiger gathered for a concert at the Flamingo Theater Bar alongside fans to revel in his music, which continues to resonate despite his absence. Artists like Divan, Nesty, Jacob Forever, Dayrán Perdomo, El Yonky, Eduardo Antonio, Dany Ome, Kevincito El 13, El Kamel, and many others came together at a venue where he often performed, singing the tracks that still bring joy to his fans.
