Cuban Woman Stirs Childhood Memories at Houston Market: "I Took It Home for My Country Boy"

A Cuban woman residing in Houston recently shared a heartfelt video on social media as she wandered through a local market filled with traditional goods that instantly transported her back to her childhood days on the island. "At my dear mother's request, we're visiting this Cuban market," she announces at the start. "If I get emotional, please forgive me," warns @m_a_u_r_a_, whose video has resonated with many Cubans living in the United States.

The first item that catches her eye is a bottle of malta. "I used to drink this when it cost 80 cents while I was studying in Miramar! I just love it," she exclaims with a mix of nostalgia and excitement. Following that, she encounters some oriental pastries that, although not her favorite, still bring a nostalgic smile to her face.

One of the most charming moments occurs when she discovers a bar of guava paste with cheese. "I took it home for my country boy because he loves this craving," she says, showcasing the sweet treat as if it were a prized possession. Then come the sapitos and merenguitos: "Oh my God, remember going to the store to get sapitos... and merenguitos? So delicious!"
