Cuban dancers Viengsay Valdes and Romel Frometa will perform at the Prague Ballet Gala in the State Opera Theatre on Thursday, sources of the company directed by Alicia Alonso reported.

Frometa and Valdes will perform the pas de deux "Diana y Acteon," in Alonso s choreographic version of the original by A. Vaganova, with music from Drigo and designs by Cuban Salvador Fernandez. The subject is the hunting rivalry between those mythological characters.

The pas de deux of "Don Quijote" will also be performed, according to the Alonso version of the original by Petipa and the later version of Anatole Obukov, with the musical score by Minkus.

Both pas de deux are characterized by their technical complexity and brilliance and constitute two of the triumphs of the Cuban National Ballet in the opinion of international critics.

In the gala, Dimitri Seminov (Marynsky Ballet), Igone de Jongh, Iñaki Urlezaga and Latin Kaftira of Het National Ballet (Dutch), Daniela Severian and Ivan Korneev (Wiesbaden State Opera Ballet), Myriam Ould-Braham and Emmanuel Thibault (the Paris Opera Ballet) will also participate.
