Isidro Thondike Granted Cuban National Dance Award

First dancer and Professor Isidro Rolando Thondike has won the 2009 National Dance Award for his contribution to the development of this artistic expression in Cuba.

According to Granma news daily, with this decision, the jury recognized his long and fruitful contribution to the 50-year-old Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba, where he danced several classics and created some of his choreographies.

The jury also acknowledged his work as a professor at the National School of Arts and at the Higher Institute of Arts.

Thondike will receive the award on April 29th during a gala to mark International Dance Day.
