Cartoonist steals show at Cuba Book Fair

One of the greats of Latin American humor, cartoonist Joaquin Salvador Lavado "Quino," creator of the Mafalda comic strip, was a big hit Monday presenting a volume of his work at the 16th International Book Fair underway in Havana. Sculpture to homage Habanos Cohiba

An installation componed by three humidors and a sculpture will give homage to Cuban tobacco brand COHIBA during the next Habano Festival, said the fine arts Cuban artist Raul Valladares. Valladares, creator of the sculpture, is the author since 1995 of the works delivered to the Habano Festival Awards, and is working on a work of art for the closing of the ninth edition this year. An art exhibition by young Cubans affected by Down's syndrome has opened in the city of Santander, Spain. The head of the project is painter and engraver Jesus Carrete from the western Cuban province of Pinar del Rio. La Acacia Gallery inaugurated this weekend the personal exhibition Where the River Flow, homage of the plastic artist Ever Fonseca to his native town Manzanillo, with the presence of the artist.
