With this news, Cuban Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation Marta Lomas inaugurated the Seventh Session of the Cuba-Venezuela Joint Inter-governmental Commission, together with Venezuelan Ambassador to Cuba Ali Rodriguez and Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela German Sanchez.
A large number of government agency representatives from both nations are expected to participate along with several Venezuelan cabinet ministers. Among the main points on the agenda will be an evaluation of what was accomplished during 2006, and a review of plans for 2007 and of the agreements implemented under the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).
Final documents will be ready for signing on Wednesday at the Havana Convention Center.
Ali Rodriguez noted that the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas "is something more than economic in nature and even reaches the philosophical." He said it contains many aspects that go far beyond quantities and numbers, "such as the literacy campaign taking place in Venezuela and breaking down the walls of the energy blockade against Cuba."
The Venezuelan Ambassador said some 300 projects are on the table for discussion during the present session of the joint commission.
