A man was apprehended by the Revolutionary National Police (PNR) for allegedly stealing a receptionist's bag at the Sol Belén workshop in Pinar del Río. Surveillance cameras captured the act, leading to his swift arrest.
The theft occurred recently when the suspect entered the workshop and took off with the employee's bag, which held personal items and a cellphone.
Sol Belén shared a 19-second video on Facebook, taken from their surveillance system, alongside photographs of the suspect. The images show him walking along the sidewalk outside the workshop, wearing blue jeans, a light-colored shirt, a visor cap, white sneakers, and carrying a green crossbody bag.
"The thief overlooked our surveillance cameras," Sol Belén noted in their post, also warning the public: "Folks, be cautious as there's always a thief ready to take advantage."
Thanks to the footage, authorities quickly identified the suspect. In a subsequent update, the workshop confirmed his arrest: "The thief has been caught and is now behind bars, awaiting justice."
Similar incidents have been recorded, such as a camera-captured theft in Havana and another in Guantánamo, where a bicycle was stolen.
Pinar del Río has seen a surge in security concerns throughout 2026. In September, seven youths were detained after violently robbing the Almacenes Escambray microenterprise in Siete Matas, where they threatened a guard and stole appliances and cash. In October, a MININT officer and a fugitive wanted for robbery were injured in a shooting during a raid in Guane, where over 300,000 Cuban pesos were seized.
