A Cuban Woman's Outburst Against Fellow Compatriots Supporting Republicans in the U.S.

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 by Emma Garcia

A Cuban woman living in the United States has stirred controversy on social media by delivering a scathing critique of her fellow countrymen who continue to support the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump. In a video shared on TikTok, she expressed her frustration, confessing that she feels "disgusted to be Cuban" when witnessing some of her peers, in her view, turning their backs on their own community.

She began by clarifying her political stance: "I'm neither Republican nor Democrat, you know why? Because above all, I'm Cuban. I vote for a free Cuba, a Cuba without dictatorship."

Her remarks intensified when addressing Cubans who still back Republicans, particularly in light of the immigration policies championed by the Trump administration. "Every time I hear a Cuban vote now for Republicans, knowing what Donald Trump is doing to our people, I feel disgusted to be Cuban," she stated, visibly upset.

The woman emphasized that the issue extends beyond political preferences, touching on the importance of solidarity among compatriots. "It's not about voting Republican or Democrat; it's about helping your own people," she asserted.

She also issued a warning to those who believe that having U.S. citizenship places them in a different category from other immigrants: "Being a U.S. citizen doesn't make you American. You're not wanted here either."

Her video ended with another indignant remark: "So much anger in my heart for all those compatriots who can't defend their fellow Cubans." The post, which had amassed nearly 28,000 views, almost 2,000 likes, and over 250 comments at the time of writing, sparked both supportive and opposing reactions.

Her message comes amid a period when Trump's immigration policies have drawn criticism, even among Cubans who previously supported him. One of the more recent cases is Lisbeth Arzola Fadragas, a Cuban Republican and former Trump voter, who publicly announced in late October her decision to shift her support to the Democratic Party.

Months earlier, another Cuban had drawn attention on social media by admitting regret over securing six family votes for Trump. "I'd never make that blunder again," he declared.

Key sources of discontent include the deportations of Cubans and the immigration restrictions put in place during Trump's second term, notably the termination of the humanitarian parole program.

Nevertheless, criticism of these measures doesn't necessarily translate into a widespread loss of electoral support for the Republican Party. According to the FIU Cuba Poll 2026, released in late October, 68% of surveyed Cuban-Americans expressed their intention to vote for Republican candidates in the midterm elections, with 53% of registered voters identifying with the party.

However, the same poll showed that 76% disapproved of the increased deportations of Cubans without criminal records, a sentiment shared by 63% of Republican respondents. Additionally, 87% supported resuming immigration benefit processes for Cubans already in the U.S.

These discrepancies between political support and opposition to specific immigration measures also appear in other accounts from Cuban-Americans who question Trump's decisions, though they still view the Republican Party as a means to maintain pressure on Cuba's dictatorship.
