Two Cuban teenagers, Diana Lisbeth Fonseca Domínguez and Anailay Noelia González Reyes, who were reported missing earlier in October, have been located safe and sound in Havana. This news was confirmed on Tuesday by the Observatorio de Género de Alas Tensas (OGAT).

The organization directly contacted the family of one of the girls to verify the information, subsequently declaring the closure of the #AlertaYeniset, which had been initiated to aid in their search.

"Diana and Noelia, who were reported missing in October 2026, have been found and are in good health," stated Alas Tensas on Facebook.

"OGAT considers the alert closed and expresses gratitude to everyone who contributed to spreading the word," the organization concluded.

The Events Leading to Their Discovery

The last sighting of the two girls was on October 5, when they left a residence in the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood of East Havana around 9:00 a.m. They were later spotted near the bridge at 100 and Boyeros.

A public alert was issued on October 8 following a post by Yusy Domínguez, Diana’s mother, who noted that her daughter and her friend had been missing for several days.

The families reported the girls’ disappearance to the police, although the authorities did not release any public statements or updates regarding their search efforts.

Another Young Cuban Woman Found

The resolution of this case coincided with the discovery of another Cuban teenager, Amanda Pérez, aged 18, who was found alive in Bayamo after being reported missing.

The recovery of Diana and Noelia underscores the critical role of independent civil organizations in a country lacking a state-run missing persons system akin to the Amber Alert used in the United States and other nations.

The Informal Alert System

The #AlertaYeniset was established by OGAT and the platform Yo Sí Te Creo en Cuba — which was shut down in April — following the disappearance of Yeniset Rojas Pérez in March 2022. Since its inception, it has served as an informal means of circulating information on social media about missing women in Cuba.

According to OGAT, between January and August of 2026, they monitored 22 cases of missing individuals on the island, including eight minors.
