A shooting on Thursday night at an apartment complex in western Hialeah, Miami-Dade County, left two individuals wounded by gunfire.

One of the victims was airlifted to a hospital due to the severity of their injuries, while authorities work to piece together the details of the incident.

The emergency call was logged shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, according to reports from Univision Miami.

The incident took place in a residential building located west of the Palmetto Expressway, near 60th Street and 22nd Court, as reported by CBS News Miami.

Hialeah Police officers, along with emergency teams, arrived at the scene to find two people injured. One was swiftly transported via medical helicopter to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, while the other received care from rescue services and was also taken to a hospital.

Unverified Details of the Shooting

According to unofficial information from Univision, one victim suffered a gunshot wound to the forehead and the other to the cheek. However, these details have not been officially confirmed by police.

Footage from Univision 23 Miami captured detectives inside the apartment, where clothing or towels appeared stained with blood, alongside similar traces on various pieces of furniture.

Outside the building, two individuals were seen seated on the ground, but their connection to the shooting remains unclear.

Victim's Family Speaks Out

A woman who spoke with Univision Miami identified one of the injured as her husband, stating that he was in stable condition. This testimony provides some insight into the condition of one victim, yet it remains uncertain which individual was airlifted or how each wound correlates with unofficial reports.

Authorities have yet to release the names of the injured or any official medical updates on their recovery.

Community Reacts to the Violence

The shooting left residents of the complex in shock, with many describing the apartment's occupants as friendly and approachable. Lorena, a neighbor interviewed by Univision Miami, expressed her surprise at the event.

"They're wonderful people, great neighbors. It was a shock. They greet everyone here; in this condo, we're sociable, we support each other," she explained.

Another resident interviewed by WSVN 7News voiced concerns about the violence in a community home to numerous families.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Detectives remained at the scene for several hours, gathering evidence and attempting to determine how the shooting unfolded.
