The Alon brothers—Oren and Tal Alexander—known for their roles as luxury real estate agents in Miami and New York, have each been sentenced to 30 years in prison. They were found guilty of participating in a sex trafficking network that, for over a decade, used wealth, exclusive parties, and trips to lure and assault women.
The sentencing took place on Tuesday, October 27, presided over by Judge Valerie E. Caproni of the Southern District of New York. In March, a jury found the three brothers guilty of various sexual offenses, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice.
"Their behavior was monstrous," remarked the judge during the hearing, drawing parallels between the brothers and the fictional characters Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
While the prosecution pushed for life sentences, the defense requested the minimum 15-year penalty. Despite the conviction, the brothers maintained their innocence, a stance the judge firmly dismissed.
The Dark Side of a Glamorous Lifestyle
Oren and Tal Alexander gained fame as elite real estate brokers, handling multimillion-dollar deals and collaborating with celebrities and high-profile business figures. Their brother, Alon, was involved in the family's private security business.
According to prosecutors, the trio exploited their financial status and social connections to entice women to parties, luxurious mansions, yachts, and exclusive trips, where they would subsequently drug and sexually assault them.
The investigation spanned incidents from at least 2008 to 2021, though complaints about their conduct date back even further.
Over 70 women reported being assaulted by one or more of the brothers, with 11 victims testifying in court.
"I Don't Understand the Cruelty"
During the hearing, several victims recounted the lasting impact of the attacks. One woman, speaking under a pseudonym, described her ordeal as "an eternity of terror."
Artist and gallery owner Lindsey Acree directly addressed the convicted brothers, questioning their motivations.
"Why did you do this? I don't understand the cruelty. I don't understand the hatred towards women," she expressed, as reported by NBC Miami and The Associated Press.
Fines and Supervised Release Following Prison Terms
In addition to the 30-year sentences, Alon and Oren Alexander must each pay fines of $300,000, while Tal is required to pay $350,000.
Oren also received an additional fine of $50,000 for producing child sexual abuse material involving a 17-year-old.
After serving their sentences, the brothers will be subject to 10 years of supervised release and must participate in sexual offender treatment programs.
Judge Caproni recommended they be housed in prisons near Miami, where they grew up and have family, though she advised keeping them apart.
"I believe they are and will continue to be negative influences on each other," Caproni stated.
Ultimately, federal authorities will decide on their prison assignments.
