This Sunday marks the fourth annual Harry Potter Convention in Havana's Historic Center, offering free entrance for all attendees, as reported by the state-run Tribuna de La Habana.

The event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. at the Museo de la Pintura Mural, located at Obispo Street 117-119, nestled between Mercaderes and Oficios streets, just steps away from the Plaza de Armas.

Joel Arturo Salazar, known as SteamLord among Cuban fans of the saga, has organized the event since its inception. He explained to Tribuna that the day's activities will blend the magical world of J.K. Rowling's famous wizard with the colonial heritage of Havana.

"There will be activities related to the saga created by British author J.K. Rowling, including participatory games, trivia contests, thematic classes, exhibitions, and immersive experiences. These activities will be enriched with the history, collections, heritage, and architecture of one of the city's oldest houses, thanks to the support of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana," Salazar elaborated.

This year's theme aims to bridge the gap between Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Cuban mythology, utilizing the museum's historic setting. The building, dating back to 1594, is one of the oldest on Obispo Street.

Beyond costumes and magical spells, the event will feature a pet adoption fair and an exhibition of native Cuban animals tied to island myths and folklore.

The event is open to all, as noted in the announcement: "Admission is free for children, teenagers, young adults, and their companions."

Although the convention is not linked to any movie releases or announcements from the international franchise, it is an initiative driven by the Cuban community of Harry Potter enthusiasts.

The second edition, held in October 2024 at the Vitrina de Valonia—also in Old Havana—attracted around 500 attendees over two days, highlighting the event's growing popularity.

Meanwhile, a new Harry Potter TV series, produced by HBO/Max, is set to debut on December 25, 2026, although it is entirely separate from this Havana gathering taking place this Sunday.
