JetBlue has opened bookings for BlueFirst™, its brand-new domestic first class, with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport highlighted as the debut location, scheduled for December 8, 2026, according to the airline's official announcement on October 15.
The inaugural commercial flight for BlueFirst will connect Boston Logan with Fort Lauderdale, offering daily service, and shortly thereafter, the product will expand to select flights between Fort Lauderdale and New York's LaGuardia Airport. The choice of Fort Lauderdale is significant: it was the first destination JetBlue served when it began operations in 2000, and now it marks the launch of their latest premium offering.
Unlike Mint, JetBlue's business class available on transcontinental routes since 2014, BlueFirst is a distinct product tailored for domestic and regional flights where Mint isn't offered. It features a two-by-two cabin layout with seats providing up to seven additional inches of legroom compared to the airline's standard seats.
Each seat is equipped with a 13.3-inch personal screen with Bluetooth connectivity, and on flights of 899 miles or more, passengers can enjoy the FirstFare service, which includes a main course, side dish, and dessert. All flights offer premium snacks, wines selected by Parcelle sommeliers, specialty coffee, and teas from Smith Teamaker. A unique feature called "Mixologist Mode" allows passengers to customize cocktails directly from their seat screen.
Travelers can choose from three fare options, each offering different baggage and flexibility benefits. BlueFirst includes two checked bags and does not charge for changes or cancellations. BlueFirst Flex adds a refund to the original payment method and no fees for same-day changes. BlueFirst Base, the most economical option, includes one checked bag and charges for changes. All three options provide Group 1 boarding and priority check-in and security access at over 30 airports.
The rollout will be gradual and subject to changes in schedules and aircraft. Following the December 8 debut, BlueFirst will be available on routes between Fort Lauderdale and Washington D.C. on December 12, Buffalo on December 20, and Fort Lauderdale–Liberia (Costa Rica) on December 26. Destinations like Austin, Nashville, and San Juan, among others, will be added starting January 2027, as outlined on jetblue.com.
Fort Lauderdale is a strategically important and growing market for JetBlue. After the permanent closure of Spirit Airlines in May 2026, the airline announced 11 new routes from this airport, projecting nearly 130 daily departures in the summer, an increase of over 75% from the previous year. BlueFirst is part of this premium consolidation effort at FLL.
"We designed BlueFirst to provide a more accessible first-class experience, combining the hospitality and service that customers expect from JetBlue with exceptional value and comfort," stated Joanna Geraghty, the airline's CEO. "This is just the beginning. As we introduce BlueFirst on more aircraft, customers will find it available on routes and markets across our network."
