Cuban singer-songwriter Francisco "Pancho" Céspedes made an appearance on social media this Sunday, declaring that he has no plans to halt his performances, despite a recent health crisis he experienced during a concert in Mexico City.
"Hello, this is Pancho, alive and well. I'm on my way to Miami. I have four shows lined up there and then four more in New York," the 69-year-old artist announced in a video recorded from an airplane.
With his characteristic humor, Céspedes addressed those who advised him to take a break following the scare. "To those telling me to stop so I won't die, well, no, I can't stop. And I'm feeling great," he affirmed.
Céspedes took the opportunity to express gratitude for the outpouring of affection he received: "Thank you so much for your concern, but I'm all about health. Sending lots of kisses. May God bless you or whoever you prefer to bless you."
The message comes just three days after the singer faced a health emergency during a concert at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, located in the historic center of Mexico City.
The incident took place on Thursday, October 15, around the fifth song of his symphonic show, when he began experiencing breathing difficulties, nausea, excessive sweating, and blurry vision, as reported by the newspaper Milenio.
"I don't know if I'm going to throw up; I feel bad... I see stars," he remarked before sitting down and asking for help.
A doctor in the audience quickly went on stage to assist him, along with a theater nurse.
Céspedes later recounted on Facebook that he briefly lost consciousness for a few seconds.
Despite the episode, he managed to recover and finish the performance with the help of Mexican singer Rosy Arango, who had continued the show while he was being attended to.
The next day, his team announced that the artist was "fine and stable," attributing the incident to a drop in blood pressure. They also confirmed he has diabetes and had just returned from an extensive tour in Spain.
Concerns about his health are not new. Back in November 2018, Céspedes was treated in Cancún for an angina or pre-heart attack, as reported by his medical team at the time.
His team assured that Céspedes remains committed to attending the Latin GRAMMY 2026, where he will receive the Award for Musical Excellence on November 9 in Las Vegas. This honorary recognition will be bestowed upon him by the Latin Recording Academy alongside Alaska, Lila Downs, Daniela Mercury, and Chichí Peralta.
