Cuban Man's $40,000 Dior Shopping Experience in Miami Takes an Unexpected Turn

Tuesday, October 13, 2026 by Charlotte Gomez

A Cuban resident in Miami shared a frustrating experience on TikTok after visiting a Dior store in the Design District. According to his account, an employee stopped him from touching a $40,000 handbag he intended to purchase. Upset by the treatment, he chose to travel to New York to make his purchase instead.

Content creator Kevin Martínez, known on social media as @kevusho, narrated how he woke up one day determined to buy "the most expensive handbag in the store." Despite this, he headed to the store dressed casually, as he lives just five minutes away and didn't think much about his appearance.

Unwelcome Reception at the Store

Martínez recounted feeling ignored by the store employees from the moment he walked in. "Everyone inside ignored me, no one acknowledged me, and they didn't even offer a sip of water despite the Miami heat," he shared.

The situation deteriorated further when he found the handbag he wanted and tried to pick it up. At that moment, an employee approached him, saying, "The handbags are not to be touched."

Standing Up to Unjust Treatment

Martínez's response was firm: "You didn’t hit the Berlin Wall, you hit the Havana Malecón." He questioned the absurdity of the situation, asking, "How do you want a forty-thousand-dollar handbag if I can't even touch it? What kind of joke is this?" The employee eventually walked away after their exchange.

This encounter prompted Martínez to reconsider where he wanted to spend his money. "At that moment, I thought: these people don’t deserve my money," he recalled.

A Different Experience in New York

Instead of making the purchase in Miami, Martínez decided to visit a Dior store in New York. There, he stated, he was finally able to buy the handbag he had set his sights on.

Martínez believes his treatment was due to his appearance. "That person behaved like that with me because of how I was dressed... I was ready to spend forty thousand dollars on the handbag, but I wasn't dressed expensively," he asserted.

Criticism of Luxury Store Attitudes

He also criticized the attitude of some luxury store employees towards customers. "Most people working in a luxury store act like they own the place, honey. You're on a minimum wage and working on commission; you should be nicer to people," he commented.

This isn't the first time a Cuban has shared a negative experience in a Miami luxury establishment. In July, Cuban content creator @klaubarbie highlighted poor treatment from a jewelry store assistant in a video that garnered over 78,000 views.

Martínez concluded his account with a message to the employee he felt judged him based on his appearance: "What happened shows you can't judge a book by its cover. You missed out on the commission, buddy. Sorry."
