Florida has initiated the process for residents to apply for the replacement of their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, specifically for households that experienced food losses due to Hurricane Isaias.

Eligible recipients should be aware that the deadline to submit their applications is Monday, October 19, 2026.

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) has confirmed the availability of this application process on its official hurricane assistance webpage.

This initiative was also highlighted in the state's recovery report released on Monday.

Eligibility and Application Details

The replacement benefits are exclusively intended for current SNAP recipients who lost food because of the hurricane. This does not represent a new program enrollment and does not guarantee approval of all applications submitted.

Eligible households can receive up to their previously approved monthly SNAP benefits, contingent on appropriate assessment.

Counties and Application Process

The DCF has made this process available to residents of the following 14 Florida counties: Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, and Washington. Notably, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach are not included in this special replacement initiative.

Interested individuals should log into their MyACCESS Florida account. Once logged in, they need to find the green banner on the main dashboard and choose "Individual Replacement Request."

Documentation Requirements

There are specific documentation requirements based on the county of residence. In Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, and Washington, no additional documents are necessary to verify food loss.

Conversely, residents in Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Jefferson, and Leon counties must submit documentation through MyACCESS proving a power outage of four hours or more.

The waiver of documentation for certain counties does not exempt households from meeting other SNAP eligibility criteria.

Deadline and Additional Information

The application deadline is firmly set for October 19, with no extensions or specific closing time announced.

This assistance differs from the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP), which caters to emergency situations and is subject to different requirements and authorizations. The DCF is still exploring additional SNAP options for impacted counties.

The opening of applications marks a shift from previous reports. As of Sunday, authorities were still considering possible food benefit replacements, while informing residents about available resources for food and assistance post-hurricane.

Now, qualifying households can apply directly via MyACCESS without waiting for the announcement of other assistance programs.
